The trees were planted sometime in the 1930s and analysis of trunk rings and knots indicates an event that caused the strange deformation happened when the young trees were 7 to 10 years old.
But what exactly that event was is the “riddle of the forest”, it remains unknown to this day.
The bent pine trees known as the Crooked Forest is not your average forest. Located outside of Nowe Czarnowo, West Pomerania, Poland, the nearly 400 trees are widely agreed to have been shaped by human hands sometime in the 1930s, but why is cause for speculation.
Each tree is bent near the base at 90 degrees, and every tree is bent in exactly the same direction: due North.
There are lots of theories, ranging from witchcraft, furniture making, or that the trees were buried beneath a terrible snowstorm in their youth. Others believe it's the energy fields.
