Here we have Jonathan, the 192-year-old giant tortoise who is currently the largest known living land animal in the world.
Since it takes around 50 years for a giant tortoise to reach adult size, it is estimated that he was born in 1832.
Jonathan (hatched c. 1832) is a Seychelles giant tortoise (Aldabrachelys gigantea hololissa), a subspecies of the Aldabra giant tortoise (Aldabrachelys gigantea). His approximate age is estimated to be 192 as of 2024, making him the oldest known living land animal.
