Vikings and Kittens

In Viking tradition, when a warrior and a maiden decided to marry, it was common practice for members of the Viking community to give the new bride a kitten or kittens. 

Kittens were often given to new brides as an essential part of setting up a new household. 

It is especially appropriate that brides should receive cats, since cats were associated with the Goddess Freyja.

Meet The Modern Day Vikings

Trondheim, Norway. The town lives like their ancient ancestors before them,

The modern-day Vikings make their own clothes, eat smoked meat and sleep outside.

For Ingrid, the lifestyle is more than just paying homage to her ancestors,

it’s a way to appreciate life and nature.

The Viking Sunstone

Most of you know how important crystals are to us, so we were fascinated watching Expedition Unknown with Josh Gates who goes in search of the Viking sunstones.

The sunstone is a crystal that was used to locate the sun behind a thick layer of clouds.

Even though there are medieval writings mentioning the stone, many dismissed the stones as fictional.
