Exposure to Animals and Nature in Childhood Supports Immune Development

A recent study from the University of Eastern Finland suggests that exposure to farm animals in early childhood may play an important role in the development of a healthy immune system.

This really isn't anything new, many studies have shown that children who grow up around animals are less likely to develop childhood diseases like asthma and eczema.

Heidi Kaario, MSc, in her PhD thesis researched if farm and pet (cat and dog) exposure had any on blood mononuclear cells of children at the age of 4.5 years.

The conclusion of her thesis was that by introducing children animal cells and animal-associated bacteria promotes optimal immune system regulation, making their bodies less likely to overreact to allergens.

The recent study from the University of Eastern Finland suggests that exposure to animals in early childhood may play an important role in the development of a healthy immune system.

We now live in a world that disinfects everything and our over zealous efforts to sterilize and sanitize environments, like hospitals, kitchens and homes has resulted in the creation of superbugs.
Superbugs are bacteria that have developed a resistance to the sanitize products we use to eliminate them.

Nature could teach us that there will always be both good and bad bacteria, but in a healthy environment the good bacteria keeps the bad in check.
So, instead of eliminating all bacteria, how about working with them so we can have environments that promote bacteria that works with us and not against us?

We know that health inspectors everywhere are ready to lynch us because of what we're suggesting, living in human environments makes hygiene and cleanliness vital in order to maintain more than adequate health standards.

That's all fine and dandy, but it seems that nature hold the answers to our health.
Studies and research have discovered that because of the complexed chemistry of natural antibiotics and the ingredients of sanitizers/disinfectants, bacteria are not able to develop a resistance as they evolve.

The more we understand nature the more we are coming to understand just how wonderful it is.
Instead of trying to outsmart nature, wouldn't it be better to learn from nature and connect with it.

“Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.” ~ Frank Lloyd Wright

Children, have a connection with nature.
So do adults, they just forgot.

May we encourage people to take advantage of the opportunities for kids to follow their natural inclination to interact with nature.
May we encourage adults to remember their natural inclination and interact with nature as well.
