Mercury in Retrograde

Thanks to Ashley, we are sharing a post from Expanded Conscienceless:
Everyone get ready because Mercury is about to be in retrograde once again, marking the third time that it will have happened this year. Starting on August 30th, we can expect it to last until September 22nd.
As you may or may not know, when a celestial body is said to be “in retrograde,” it simply means that it will appear to be traveling backwards along its orbital path, even though it actually isn’t. However, this distortion in Mercury’s path causes things to operate a bit differently here on Earth.
Anticipate trouble when it comes to travel, communicating and learning while Mercury is in retrograde.
And if you’d like to survive this retrograde cycle with a bit of grace, avoid doing these five things:
Buying big ticket items that cost a lot of money
During retrograde cycles it is very common for people to indulge in the purchasing of expensive items. Maybe you think that it’s a deal you don’t want to miss out on, come to find out that the product you bought is actually broken or not what you thought it was.
If you are planning a big purchase, do your best to secure a warranty or some sort of insurance that will provide you a bit of room for error.
Pay attention to your bank account
Having to pay bills is probably one of the worst things about being an adult. But if you’re the type to avoid looking at your bank accounts, take the time to go over them when this retrograde cycle starts.
During this time, your brain is more open to analyzing finances. If you need to start paying on a loan, build yourself a new budget, or reconcile your checkbook, now is the time.
Try to stick with the career / job you have now
Mercury in retrograde means that things have an increased chance of not going the way you want them to. If a new job opportunity has made itself known to you, you’re probably best off just ignoring it for the time being. Wait for Mercury to be back in prograde before pursuing a change in livelihood.
Avoid traveling!
Traveling can be a stressful endeavor when you have the planets’ favor; it’s even worse when you don’t. You’ll likely experience an increased number of delays, cancellations, missed flights, lost luggage and messed up reservations.
If there’s no way avoiding traveling, do your best to have all your ducks in a row. Traveler’s insurance might be a good idea.
Avoid contracts
When Mercury is in retrograde, our normal thought processes change slightly. It might seem like signing a big contract is the best way to go in the moment, but then you’ll quickly find yourself analyzing the situation from a different perspective, deciding that you could have done things differently and better.
Just be extra careful when it comes to signing any contracts or documents that will lock you into long-term commitments.
