As we keep saying, the interest in Paganism is growing rapidly and the number of teens creating their own covens online is amazing.
Teens are turning to Tumblr to create covens and study witchcraft.
Why?
Because teens are searching for answers and traditional institutions are failing miserably.
Tumblr spokesperson says that users published 225,472 original posts tagged "witchcraft" in the past six months alone, as well as 50,293 blog posts about "spells." Protection rituals, divination and the "Book of Shadows," (a witch's personal diary) are very popular subjects on Tumblr.
The Tumblr popular topics are about crystals, herbs and other magical tools and ingredients to make potions.
Posts about divination, meditative gazing, crystal or candles and spell-casting have become specific searches for teenage witchery.
Teen witches on Tumblr are using ancient Wiccan practices in their everyday lives, making sigils [sacred symbols] and runes to pass a test or have a good day at school.
The Coven of Wandering Witches is led by a 16-year-old priestess in Ohio named Carmen Thomas. Carmen found witchcraft through Tumblr and started on her spiritual path. "My blog used to be a depression blog, but it slowly changed into my views on life. "The witch community is so sweet, and they help new witchlings with everything."
Green Tide Witches is another online coven consisting of green and sea witches hailing from America and England. They post spells, resources, and all around witchy things.
This coven has a great Tumblr page, hope they don't mind, but we borrowed this to give you an idea what they discuss:
Banishing and Cleansing Powder
ivysbookofshadows:
I love this powder. Not only is it powerful, it also smells good and helps clean your carpet.
Ingredients
•Baking soda
•Salt
•Rosemary
•Cloves
•Nutmeg
•Thyme
Light a white candle and place it near you. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl well and focus of thoughts of banishing all negative energies around you. When finished, sprinkle it all over your carpet, floor, and in front of the doors and window sills. Snuff out your candle. Let sit for a few hours then vacuum/sweep up.
Their statement:
'We are an online witch coven for primarily Green and Sea witches but we welcome all types of witches looking to join us. Our focus is on witchcraft, meditation, and spirituality, and using our magick to bring peace to the earth and sea. We are a non-religious based coven, but promote our members to follow their own religious or secular paths. This coven is a safe haven for witches seeking advice, knowledge, and friendship."
The CWW's group chat ceremonies often involve candles, incense, incantations and personal altars. They believe their rituals are helping the coven form a spiritual connection that allows them to sense each other even when they're offline.
We've just mentioned a few, just Google Teen Witches on Tumblr and see what happens, they're everywhere.
The Pagan Kitchen honors Tumblr's magical community. Tumblr has opened up a door to something very ancient, not a religion but a beautiful spirituality.
