This easy slow cooker wassail recipe will take you back to the medieval era.
Our ancestors made this drink with mulled ale, curdled cream, roasted apples, eggs, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and surgar.
This recipe has fewer ingredients and is easier to make, but it doesn’t sacrifice the delicious flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 large red apple
- 3 pints dark beer
- 1/2 pint sherry
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ginger
- 1 lemon's zest
- 4 ounces brown sugar
Instructions
- Add all ingredients except the apples into your crockpot
- Cook on low for 4 to 6 hours
- Taste the wassail. Add more sugar to taste
- Slice the apple and then bake it at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes
- Add the hot apples to the crockpot when it is ready to drink
