Last year (2019 the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest Protestant group, lost more members than ever before.
Back in 2018, the church had 14,813,234 members.
By the time 2019 rolled around, that number dropped to 14,525,579, that’s 287,655 people.
There were also 10,694 fewer baptisms, 47,558 fewer people attending weekly worship, and 11,485 fewer people attending Sunday School study.
But as we’ve been reminded time and time again, it’s all about the money.
These drop in numbers translate into $170 million loss of revenue. But not to worry, the church will probably keep their head above water with the nearly $11.6 billion they took in.
