What To Do About Energy Vampires

Energy Vampires are people who have allowed their vibration to become so low that they need to “feed off” another’s energy in order to function.
They do this by constantly seeking attention, reassurance and by creating a lot of drama.

They also like:
We depend on our energy levels,so when our energy is constantly depleted and is not restored, it weakens our vibration.

You can usually spot an Energy Vampire by the way that you feel when you are around them.
Often you will feel very drained or depleted of energy and you may also feel physical symptoms like headaches or even stress and anxiety when you are around them.
You may also feel:
  • A sudden nausea or stomach ache after or before the interaction
  • Pains around the back, chest, neck and shoulders
  • A throbbing headache or feeling “out of it”
  • Feeling irritable, frustrated or angry for no real reason
  • Being on edge or feeling like there is a heavy dark cloud over you
  • Having unpleasant dreams about the person
  • Anxiety, stress or guilt for no apparent reason
  • Tightness in the chest or a shortness of breath
  • Feeling intuitively uncomfortable around this person
  • You feel fearful, unworthy, are unhappy
If you feel two or more of these symptoms after interacting with an individual, it could be that you are experiencing an attack which allows the Energy Vampire to drain your energy.

No one can take your energy unless you allow them to.
You have the ability to create your own positive energy force as you remain aware of what is happening and no one will be able to drain you of your energy or effect the way you feel.

If you do feel that you are surrounded by Energy Vampires here is what you can do to protect yourself.

Set firm boundaries and assert yourself when appropriate.
Distance yourself from the person.
Recite positive mantras and keep your thoughts positive.
Keep your aura clear, clean and strong.
Sage your surroundings or yourself at the end of the day.
Learn not to react, stay neutral.

Energy Vampires like to dominate control over others.
If you feel this happening, take a step back and remind yourself, even though you may have been pulled off course you can refocus and return to your path.
Take a deep breath, center yourself
Do not allow them to bring you down to their level.

Summer Solstice Herby Honey Cookies

In Nordic countries, the midsummer feast included “sun breads”, cakes or buns made with honey (also a golden sun food) believed to bring prosperity and abundance to the community.

One Scandinavian folk tradition recommends including midsummer dew in the dough to cure diseases!

Roman’s had their own summer solstice celebration Vestalia, during which priestesses Vestales made sacred cakes with water from her holy spring.

Ingredients:

  • 1 & 3/4 cups of flour
  • ¾ cup softened butter
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup brown or cane sugar
  • 1 teaspoon minced thyme
  • 1 teaspoon lavender buds
  • 1 teaspoon minced rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon minced sage
  • a few crushed cardamom seeds
  • pinch of salt
  • You decide how much of the herbs to use in the cookies, so adjust accordingly.

Icing:

  • 3 teaspoons milk
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • a wee bit of grated lemon rind.  You can also add lavender buds to the second batch of icing.
  • Color. You can use a combination of golden beet juice, St. John’s Tincture and a pinch of turmeric powder, but of course, you could use a store-bought natural food dye.
  • Combine your milk and icing sugar. Slowing add in your coloring and mix until you find the desired color/consistency

Directions:

  • Preheat Oven to 300°.
  • Beat flour, sugar and soft butter together until creamy.
  • Slowly drizzle in honey while beating until mixture pulls together.
  • Add minced herbs and petals, mix well through the dough.
  • Divide into four balls and chill for an hour or so.
  • Roll out and cut into round shapes. Add flour as needed.
  • Bake at 300 for 10-15 minutes.
  • Let cool.
  • Decorate using the flowers and herbs of the sun: petals of calendula, lawn daisies or ox-eye daisies (not storebought daisy chrysanthemums), St. John’s Wort, rose, or sprigs of rosemary, thyme and sage.

Happiness

Yes, happiness may be a choice, but it’s too easy to simply say happiness is a choice and leave it at that.
Happiness is really the result of a variety of choices we make.

Happiness isn’t a result of the outside world, it comes from within you.
This is why Paganism is a path that helps us make these choices.

Ancient Greece, Birthday Cakes and Candles

The Greeks worshipped many gods and goddesses.

Among them was one called Artemis, the Goddess of the Moon.

The Greeks celebrated her birthday once each month by bringing special cakes to her temple.

The cakes were round like a full moon.

And, because the moon glows with light, the cakes were decorated with lighted candles.

The lit candles on the cake represented protection and the glow of the moon, and the smoke from the candles carried their prayers and wishes to the gods who lived in the skies.

As far as gift giving, ancient Greeks gave gifts to those celebrating their birthday as a way to get rid of evil spirits.

It is believed, like many other pagan cultures, that days of major change, such as these “birth” days, welcomed evil spirits.

They lit candles in response to these spirits almost as if they represented the moon and light in the darkness.

Perhaps birthday celebrations started as a form of protection.

In addition to candles, friends and family would gather around the birthday person and protect them from harm with good cheers, thoughts, and wishes.

They would give gifts to bring even more good cheer that would ward off evil spirits.

Noisemakers were also used to scare away the unwanted evil.
