Charging your Crystals under the Full Moon

Before you put your crystals under the full moon it's a great idea to clean them first.
Sound cleansing is another way to prepare your crystals.

bed of rice is considered the safest method of cleaning your crystal.
Fill a glass bowl with uncooked rice grains.
Gently place the crystal on top of the rice or fully cover the crystal
Leave it there for at least four hours, any negative energy will be absorbed and transmuted into the rice, so do not cook and eat the rice or you will absorb the negativity!

After the cleansing the energy of a full moon is perfect to charge your crystals.

A full moon is the brightest and it is the most effective way to cast off what is no longer serving you  – and your crystals.
Crystals absorb energy, just as you do.
Your crystals will absorb the energy of their immediate environment, and if they are frequently handled or used for healing practice, they will need to be cleansed of that energy too.

Lay your crystals out on a natural surface.

This gives an earthing effect, just like grounding your own body.

What time is best to put them outside?

Anytime after it gets dark is the perfect time.
Dusk, when the sun is setting is ok too.
This way the crystals that should avoid sunlight, such as Amethyst, are not put out until the sun has gone down.

When we bring the crystals inside and do we need to do anything special with them?

Bring them inside in the morning. You do not have to have them outside for any set length of time.
There are some crystals that can eventually fade if left in direct sunlight.
You do not need to do anything special to handle them while bringing them inside.
Just bring them on in and put them in their normal homes around your house.

What if we can't put them outside? Will they still get cleansed if we put them on my window ledge?

It's ok if you can't put them outside.
You can put them in front of your window.
Some crystals like Selenite are fragile and they need to be protected outside.
If you have a window that moonlight can come into, that is probably best.
However, if you can't do that, don't worry, any window will do.
The energy is all around us. It won't be as strong as it would be outside, but you work with what you have.

It is cloudy or raining. I can't see the moon. Will my crystals still be cleansed? Does this effect the moon's energy?

Regardless if we can see the moon or not, the energy is still there and is still effecting us and the planet.
Clouds do not effect the moon's energy.
It is still there and still shining, even though the clouds are in the way of us seeing it.
If it is raining, just make sure that you put out crystals that are ok to get wet.
For example, keep Selenite and Malachite inside because the rain will damage them.
Crystals like the Quartz family (Clear Quartz, Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Citrine, Smoky Quartz) are all safe to be outside in the rain.

The Ancients had Knowledge of The Power of Crystals

Crystals are millions of years old, forged during the earliest parts of earth’s formation.
Crystals are structured in such a way that they respond to the different energies around them, leading them to emit specific vibratory frequencies.

Here's a couple of short informative videos:

Because crystals are so balanced the energy they emits is consistent, a harmonic energy.
The ancients understood crystals could bring about healing and enhance physical, emotional and spiritual balance.
The ancients must have somehow known that the energies of crystals could and do interact with the human electromagnetic field to bring about subtle energetic changes.

Royalty have always worn crystals in their jewelry, crowns, thrones and swords, and the placement of crystals on the crown on a royal’s head was located right next to the crown chakra, and the same goes for a necklace over the heart chakra, rings on fingers for energy meridians, and earrings to stimulate reflex points.

* The Ancient Egyptians:
Used crystals for protection and health, and buried the dead with a piece of quartz on their forehead to help guide them to the afterlife.

Perhaps the most interesting is the account of pharaohs who carried a copper cylinder and zinc cylinder each filled with quartz, to balance the Ka and Ba energies of the body (equivalent of Ying & Yang today).

*Ancient Greeks:
Rubbed themselves with crushed hematite before going into battle thinking that it would make them invincible.

The name for Amethyst is derived from the words for "not drunken" in Greek, because Amethyst was worn as an amulet to protect against drunkenness and hangovers.

Even the word "crystal" is derived from the Greek word for ice, because quartz crystal looked like water that was frozen and would never melt.

Romans:
The use of crystals as amulets and talismans was very common amongst the Romans.
They were used in medical treatment and to attract desirable things, enhance health and provide protection in battle.

* India:
The Hindu Vedas, the sacred 5000 year old religious texts, discuss the use of different crystals to treat certain medical ailments, as well as the specific properties of different crystals.
Aryuvedic medicine has also recognized the healing powers of crystals for hundreds of years.

* Mayans, Aztecs and Incans:
All three of these societies understood the power of using crystals for balance and healing on physical, emotions and spiritual levels.

Crystals were used to diagnose and treat disease, well as to see the future through divination.
According to some accounts, the Incans considered certain stones (such as emeralds) to be so powerful, they chose to die before giving the conquerors the location of their emerald mines.

* Indigenous Tribes:
American Indians and indigenous tribes of Australia have used, and continue to use, crystals to diagnose and heal illness.
Many of the stones used in their traditional jewelry are thought to contain healing powers, including Agate, Turquoise, Onyx and more.

* Ancient Chinese:
the 5,000 year old practice of Chinese Medicine often incorporates crystals for their healing powers, including the use of crystal needles in modern day Chinese acupuncture and Pranic Healing.

* Ancient Japanese:
The ancient Japanese were skilled at the art of scrying, using transparent crystal balls to produce visions. Quartz crystal spheres were thought to represent the hearts of dragons, which symbolized power and wisdom.

* Tibetan Buddhists,
...have considered quartz crystal spheres to be objects of great holy, spiritual power, believing their properties could even assist with enlightenment.

In Buddhism, the Medicine Buddha is called "Healing Master of Lapis Lazuli Radiance," and its rituals include meditating on lapis lazuli.

* Neolithic Man:
The use of talismans and amulets dates back to the times of prehistoric man, with the oldest crystal amulet, made from Baltic Amber, dating back over 30,000 years.

Prehistoric humans also constructed stone tribal burial chambers, or ‘Megaliths‘ that were designed according to the texture, weight, color and vibration.
