Wisconsin Denies Nonbelievers Marriage License

Wisconsin has decided that discriminating against nonreligious couples is a good policy.
They are denying nonbelievers the right to marry by mutual declaration, a privilege granted to religious believers.

Supposedly, as couples take each other as husband and wife, they must do so in accordance with the customs, rules and regulations of any religious society, denomination or sect to which either of the parties may belong.
So, these two individuals, seeking to get a marriage license, were denied this right by the office of the county clerk in Winnebago.
The couple said that their request to get a marriage license had been refused because they were not religious.

If they had lied saying they were religious, their marriage could have proceeded as planned.
Instead, merely because they aren’t believers, an arbitrary and discriminatory roadblock was placed in their path that the religious in Wisconsin don’t face.
